Prior to entering the world of dog training, I pursued my first passion during a 30 career in plant breeding and genetics.
I am now pursuing another life long passion for dogs with a second career in behavioral training of dogs. I have spent the last five years shadowing professional trainers and attending programs to learn a wide variety of approaches to dog training such that I can draw on a multitude of techniques when addressing behavioral issues. I spent 4.5 years experiencing dog behavior in groups while working in a daycare business. It is there I began teaching a Basic Manners program in group classes as well as private classes specifically addressing leash handling skills. I particularly enjoy teaching people how to have a pleasurable walk with their dog as this not only provides exercise but done well it should be bonding, enjoyable time together.
In my spare time, I pursue scent work and tracking with my personal dogs. I also volunteer as a foster/trainer for Airedale Rescue Group of the Southeast often taking the Airedales that would be difficult to place without some training.
I am a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals.
